Primitive camping is available at the Four Mile and Boat Ramp riverside reserves in Brewarrina and in the Culgoa National Park and is permitted adjacent to the new Goodooga Hot
Artesian pool. Travellers also free camp in the rest areas along the Kamilaroi Highway and at the Narran River Reserve just off Bangate Road near Goodooga. The Brewarrina Clay
Target Shooting Club and the Racecourse (for the rodeo only) permits camping on-site during their events.
Business and work-related travellers are the main market for the motel, hotel and self-contained cabin accommodation. Brewarrina often experiences capacity constraints mid-
week and during events, with demand for additional motel and self-contained cabin accommodation being high.
The on-line presence of the accommodation sector is very poor. Beds on the Barwon and the Brewarrina Caravan Park are the only accommodation properties with websites, with
these websites not having on-line booking facilities. None of the properties are listed with the on-line booking sites (eg booking.com, wotif, expedia), with these sites identifying
properties in Walgett and Bourke in response to search requests for accommodation in Brewarrina.
3.5 Other Facilities and Infrastructure to Support Tourism
Other facilities and infrastructure available in the Shire to support tourism include:
 Information services: Visitor Information Centre (VIC) in the Brewarrina town centre and information directories that need to up dated at the VIC, Boat Ramp, Rest stops and
Four Mile Reserves.
 Sporting and recreation facilities: including parks with basic equipment and picnic facilities in Brewarrina and Goodooga, 9 hole golf courses in Brewarrina and Goodooga, and
racecourse, clay target shooting range, tennis courts and swimming pool (summer only) in Brewarrina, with boat ramps and fishing jetties at Boat Ramp and Four Mile Reserves
in Brewarrina.
 Eateries: Brewarrina RSL Club, Brewarrina Hotel, Muddy Waters Café, Shell Service Station and a hot food van in Brewarrina, with the Service Station being the only outlet open
7 days per week. Food will be available in Goodooga in the near future from the Hotel and a hot food van.
 Retail and support services: Brewarrina has two small supermarkets, a service station, mechanic, pharmacy, post office and a local hospital, with Goodooga and Weilmoringle
having post office – general stores, with Goodooga also having basic medical services,
 Conference and meeting venues: Brewarrina Shire Council has meeting rooms for hire in the Coomunity Centre, VIC, Senior Citizens Centre and Youth Centres, with these
rooms having basic projection equipment. Other venues include the RSL Club (auditorium, function room and board room plus out-door space), the Racecourse, Muddy Waters
Café and the CWA rooms.
 Public toilets: Public toilets are available in the Brewarrina town centre, at the VIC and at the Boat Ramp and Four Mile Reserves at Brewarrina, the highway rest area at the
intersection of the Kamilaroi Highway and the Goodooga Road (5km north east of Brewarrina), Doreen Peter Park in Goodooga, near the Council depot at Weilmoringle and at
the picnic area in the Culgoa National Park. Amenities are also being provided at the hot artesian pool in Goodooga. The public toilets in the Brewarrina town centre are dated
and present poorly, while those in Goodooga need repairs.
