FROM MY HEART
Little things make a difference!! Have
you ever noticed that something little can be
felt in a big way? Some examples: a paper
cut, a hangnail, a missing spark plug...you get
the idea.
Recently, I have been dealing with
an leg issue that has cramped my running
routine. I began experiencing a pain on
the outside of my knee at the end of a
very long run. The ailment, I.T. Band Syndrome, is an overuse issue
that is experienced by many runners. However, the source of the
discomfort is not a knee issue, but comes from a weak muscle in my
hip. Because of the weak muscle, my running form and other muscles
in my leg have been compensating for the weakness. Eventually, a
uncomfortable pain developed through the miles of running.
So what is the solution? Strengthening that small muscle
group! That one group of muscles has far reaching implications all
over my body.
This same principle is in effect in the church. Paul talks about
it in Romans 12:4-5 and I Cor. 12(read them). Although our church
is large by national church standards, the strength of our church is
not in our mass, but in each individual member. Each member of this
church body, impacts the whole body. Brenham’s First Baptist Church
is only as strong as it’s individual members.
So you may think, “I am just one person, what do I matter
in a church of four hundred?” God and I would say, “You make a big
difference!!” Please, find your fit and connection within our body, use
your gifts, talents, and experiences and I believe others will reap the
benefits.
I love you, Troy
