Introduction

This curriculum includes three sections : Breastfeeding Basics , Breastfeeding Challenges and Beyond the Basics . The lesson plans in this curriculum include options for a two or four hour course . You may modify sections , topics and lesson plans to fit your course structure and timeframe as needed .

Introduction and value of the section
Goals
Adult learners often want to know why something is important and relevant . It is helpful to set the stage by explaining the purpose of the section . Also , include information on the length of time you will be spending on a section and upcoming breaks .
Defining your specific goals before teaching ensures you select the most relevant lessons and keeps your lesson plans on track .

Since information builds on itself , each section overview identifies any prior knowledge or
Prior knowledge skills that are helpful for parents to have .
These may be used during your introduction to put the section in context , identify important Key questions topics or generate independent thought . Some or all of these key questions should be answered during the section . You can these key questions at the end of the section .
After the overview , each section is divided into individual topics . Each topic includes suggested teaching strategies , activities and resources . You can select topics to include in your course based on your goals , clients ’ needs and time constraints . Each topic heading looks like the table below .
