CONCLUSION This study reiterated an association between high salt intake and the development of high blood pressure. On the positive side is that salt-induced high blood pressure can be significantly prevented by oral vitamin C intake as shown by this study.
RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that dietary salt intake be regulated and in salt sensitive individuals, vitamin C may be beneficial in preventing development of high blood pressure.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I am extremely grateful to the almighty God, My parents, Professor O. A Sofola( my supervisor), the Department of Physiology and the Department of Clinical pathology for their uncountable supports in making this work a success.
