An enormous number of people cared about this school. I’ve named some of them. If I had been closer to my notes, I probably would have named more. But just off the top of my head, that’s the quick and dirty story of the origin of this wonderful medical school. I want to say at the end of my remarks that when I look back on the … years I spent as president of Florida State University, I’m pretty proud of a lot of things that happened, but a couple of national football championships don’t come anywhere close to the pride I feel in this medical school. This has just been a wonderful place that continues to bring in committed faculty, and the quality of faculty and students here, the quality of your graduates, just is amazing to me. • Breaking the Mold | 55
