The other day my daughter told me she was very worried because she didn’t know exactly where she was going in life. I told her there was no way you could map how I got from Hot Springs, Arkansas – where I grew up and graduated from high school – to the FSU College of Medicine, because there were so many twists and turns in my path. People might think that someone involved in creating something as wonderful as the College of Medicine at Florida State must have known exactly where she was going and how to get there. I’m here to tell you there was no divine intervention, there were no angels pointing the way.
