History of Population.
In the early 1500s to about 1815 the Portuguese settled what is now modern day Brazil. During the 300 year settlement there were many reasons to come there. At first it was for wood, then it was for the sugar procuction, after the sugar it was for gold and diamonds, finnally followed by the slave trade. Especially the slaves brought from africa which lead most the Brazillian work force. Unlike the pieced to gether Spanish territories the Portuguesse were able to keep there territories and there peopel in unity. This tremendously helped them settle there territories and do more work.
