ENTERTAINMENT FEATURE | GEEKSET PODCAST
BRASH! How does the hosts having musical backgrounds influence the
conversations within the podcast?
Bacardi - The musical backgrounds are the common grounds we came
together on, we all know each other and have crossed paths in some way
throughout our musical careers. Which made it even easier to sit down
with each and discuss everything else.
Didge - It gives you that mindset of having to grind to get your message
out there. With music you gotta put in a lot of work to make sure people
can and want to hear your message, you’re always honing your craft.
Podcasting is very similar, it’s just that instead of working on new beats or
lyrics you’re trying out new show ideas, or instead of late nights in the
studio recording, it’s a late-night brainstorming.
Deuces – To add to that I think it's really dope because not only are we
speaking as fans, but as people of the culture as well. It adds credit to our
opinions and think pieces because we're not just speaking from nowhere.
Lib - It's the same reason why people like to hear what Joe Budden talks
about on his podcast, you got this vet in the music game telling you some
ins and outs about the game. We do the same while blending two worlds.
BRASH! What milestones have you reached thus far?
Lib – The significance we have amongst these conventions we go to and
speaking with comic book collectors, pop collectors, creatives etc. They
want to speak and hear from us because we respect their hustle and craft.
Didge - We’ve had the experience of being able to do multiple live shows
throughout the Midwest, been able to do press work at conventions in
Milwaukee and Chicago. But by far my favorite milestone was being able
to fly out to San Jose for Crunchy Roll expo. We were able to podcast on
location, and serve as press for the convention.
Bacardi - Some key Milestones would be being repeat featured Guests at
a few conventions, it feels good to know people want you back. Crunchy
Roll Expo was a great moment in establishing ourselves further than our
Midwest reach, The launch of the Geekset Store and Clothing line with
hopes of building more Brand Identity
Deuces – Yeah for me I agree with Didge, the biggest Milestone was us
landing the Crunchy Roll Expo spot. Anyone in the Geek Community
knows that Con's are a huge part of the culture and the fact we got to
LIVE podcast from the expo was huge. It solidified that we're of the
culture and accepted/respected in some of the highest forms.
