B! 18 B E T T Y M O O N the “come and go” trends and avoiding the bandwagon, which can quickly derail a career and leave artists feeling discouraged. I’ve been told by many that I influence and inspire them, and those types of compliments are something I’m very grateful for and gives me energy to keep growing and writing. From what I’ve seen most artists that have long careers have something unique to offer, don’t sound like the rest of the pack and keep putting out music whether it sticks or not. There have been just as many failures as there have been successes, and it’s not letting the prior drag me down that has been a key part of defying other music trends. BRASH! How did that move to LA change your music career? BM: It was a game changer for sure. I’ve lived back and forth between Toronto and LA for decades, but making the big move to Southern California really opened doors to new opportunities and growth. In LA is where I played some of my biggest shows, met some of the best in the industry and have planted down roots in one of the most beautiful, creative areas of the world. working, " Keep but take time to enjoy it, then get back on the journey ASAP. www.BettyMoon.com  Facebook.com/BettyMoonmusic Twitter: @bettymoonmusic IG: bettymoonmusic BRASH! Your music doesn’t provide a “one-way” in it’s direction. How important is it for your to add various elements within your songs (i.e. electro-pop and alt-rock in the track “Runaway”)? BM: Good question, and honestly it’s a hard one to answer. I don’t write music with an agenda or via a map to have all the songs sound the same. It’s really a cohesive pot of awesome songs I piece together at different moments throughout the process. If one day I want to write something EDM, and other it’s hard rock, so be it! Putting walls around what I am “supposed” to write doesn’t serve me and likely doesn’t for other artists. Well, unless your Slayer or Depeche Mode, then you don’t have a choice haha. I blame the fans in that case, though. ;) BRASH! Describe the feeling of being on the ballot for multiple Grammy nominations. BM: It’s a great feeling for sure, to be on the ballot for these nominations is not only validation for what I do but also a nudge to step up my game. I’m always eager to write bigger, better songs and it’s really about the journey with all this music stuff. Now is the time to work even harder, when some may think it’s time to sit back and bask in the glory. Maybe that’s the secret to success right?
