His latest project, BEFORE I’M SAD AGAIN, is no different from the VA native recording artist. Ushering Fall season while touching on the usual burnout summer can leave us in, he’s allowing us to surge into a new season with good music before daylight savings time. Being open and honest about his dealings with seasonal depression, Russell channels it in the music to create expressive tracks that entertain and connect to fans. BRASH! What prompted the title of your latest EP? RR: The title ‘BEFORE I’M SAD AGAIN’ is basically me just saying, “hey let’s turn up before this seasonal depression sets in.” I know how my mood changes in the fall when the days get shorter and the nights get colder, so I wanted to release some feel-good music before I get back into that darker, more emotional mindset. BRASH! How is this project different from your previous releases? RR: It’s more of a flex than my previous releases. It’s less emotional, more upbeat, and focused around creating songs that I’d have fun performing live, such as ‘MAÑANA’ and ‘LADIES NIGHT’. Photo Credit: Chloe Delainey
