BRANDIN EU Branding Handbook for SMEs | Page 34
To sum up the brand protection strategy is not an easy task and companies usually
get confused since they are not familiar with the laws. So in that case, a lawyer if/
when needed will make it easier to work and will also give advice on whether you
need to protect your intellectual property in overseas markets.
Don’t forget that the best, easier and cheapest way to protect the brand is by using
it. The more people associate a name with your business and/or your goods and services, the more the courts will recognise that you have legal rights in it, and punish
infringers.
