Brendan Lyle is an Intelligence Analyst with NCFTA ’ s Brand and Consumer Protection ( BCP ) program . Since joining the NCFTA in 2016 , he has provided research and analysis for NCFTA ’ s law enforcement and industry partners on various entities engaging in cyber-enabled crime . Brendan is currently the dedicated analyst to the Drug Enforcement Administration , supporting their ongoing efforts target and disrupt the sale of illegal narcotics . He is responsible for direct taskings from the DEA , as well as proactive research and analysis in support of additional NCFTA law enforcement partners regarding cyber entities advertising various fentanyl analogues , research chemicals , and psychoactive substances .
Lara Miller is Counsel & Vice President of Corporate Strategy at the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition ( IACC ). She is responsible for identifying and developing the IACC ’ s strategic initiatives including its online anti-counterfeiting programs and other partnerships with leaders of industry , international law enforcement , and technology . She also creates and oversees the legal framework for the IACC ’ s program and initiatives , and serves as in-house counsel for organization ’ s overall operations . Lara frequently represents the IACC at international industry events , seminars , and trainings , speaking on topics such as online threat mitigation and anti-counterfeiting trends and challenges . She has professional experience ranging from communications and corporate sponsorship , to intellectual property law and corporate law , at organizations in the sports entertainment , architecture , and luxury apparel industries . Lara has a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University , a Post-Graduate degree in Corporate Communications from Seneca College , and a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law . She is admitted to practice in the State of New York .
Andrew Toole is the Acting Chief Economist at the U . S . Patent and Trademark Office ( USPTO ) and a Research Associate at the Center for European Economic Research ( ZEW ), Mannheim , Germany . Andrew joined the USPTO with prior experience in government , academia and the private sector . While completing his Ph . D . in Economics at Michigan State University , Dr . Toole was a Senior Economist for Laurits R . Christensen Associates where he conducted studies on total factor productivity , cost and price analysis , and competitive strategy . In 1998 , Andrew joined Stanford University as a post-doctoral student before becoming a faculty member at Illinois State University and Rutgers University in New Jersey . As an academic researcher , Dr . Toole advised the U . S . National Academies of Science , U . S . National Institutes of Health , the U . S . Department of Agriculture ( USDA ), and other organizations on science and technology policies . In 2010 , Andrew joined the Science Policy Branch of USDA ’ s Economic Research Service . His research focuses on the economics of innovation , intellectual property , and related science and technology policies . Dr . Toole has published in the Journal of Law and Economics , the Review of Economics and Statistics , Research Policy , Management Science , and many other peer-reviewed journals .
Yuying Xie is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computational Mathematics Science and Engineering and the Department of Statistics and Probability at Michigan State University . His research mainly focuses on the area of statistical machine learning using high-dimensional noisy data . Yuying is also developing robust algorithms for cancer immunotherapy and responsive supply chain preserving data privacy .
