What few people know however is that Paul has being struggling with a reoccurring hip problem over the past few seasons and although the odd cortisone injection had eased the pain temporarily, Paul has been finding it harder and harder to get involved in training as well as refereeing.

Paul went under the knife in late July with surgery lasting only 60-90 minutes and physiotherapy starting almost immediately and doctors are certain he will make a quick recovery. Although he is not yet able to attend the Phoenix games, he is still very active in offering words off support to the team via text and social media.

All at Bradford Phoenix wish him well in his rehabilitation.
