Our ECA Finance team is led by partner Oliver Irwin. As a junior lawyer Oliver spent time on secondment with Citibank’ s Export and Agency Finance team and has worked on ECA backed financings throughout his career. IFLR1000 has identified Oliver as a“ Rising Star” or“ Highly Regarded” every year since 2013, and he has been ranked by Chambers UK each year since 2012, where clients report that Oliver is considered“ truly outstanding” and highlight his“ knowledge of debt financing” and“ drive to get the deal done” and that his“ technical ability, precision and accuracy of his work combined with his responsiveness makes him a very good lawyer”. Oliver is also ranked as a“ Next Generation Partner” for Projects, Energy & Natural Resources: Infrastructure in The Legal 500 United Kingdom( 2018-2023) where clients report that he“ is a brilliant finance lawyer; knowledgeable, adaptable, well-connected and with a strategic and commercial approach”. Oliver was recognized by Law360 as a 2019 MVP for Project Finance and serves on Law360’ s Project Finance Editorial Advisory Board( 2020-2021). In addition Oliver is a lecturer at the TXF CC Solutions“ School of ECA Finance”.

Our team has extensive experience of advising ECAs, Bilateral and Multilateral Development Finance Institutions and commercial lenders, sponsors and host governments on complex, first-in-country project financings, with a particular focus on the energy and infrastructure sectors in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Our team members are active participants( including committee members) of the“ Future Export Finance” networking group in London and the Women in Export Finance networking group and our London office regularly hosts events for these networking groups.
