" Carrie ' s broad experience , including her expertise in the managed care space , will be a valuable addition to our growing healthcare team ," Bopp said in a statement .
Bracewell , founded in 1945 in Houston , has approximately 350 attorneys in 10 offices worldwide .
Douglas , the daughter of a physician , earned her law degree in 2004 from University of Texas School of Law . She joined Strasburger & Price LLP shortly after graduating from law school and stayed with the firm for 17 ½ years .
In 2022 , she moved to Waller Lansden , which merged with Holland & Knight earlier this year .
In law school , she figured she would be a corporate lawyer or an intellectual property lawyer . However , when she got hired at Strasburger & Price , she ended up being an admiralty and maritime lawyer . When that work would slow down , they gave her health care cases and she found she really enjoyed it .
" The CFOs like to talk to me because I have come up with strategies that help them improve their bottom line ," she said . " That ' s one of the things that I love about the health care world is that there are so many interesting avenues and I found a really nice niche in the payor dispute world . It ' s a marvelous place to find myself . It intersects a lot of areas of law into one very nice niche ."
She especially enjoys finding new ways to handle disputes .
" Now my favorite passion is figuring out how to resolve things on a prelitigation level ," she said , " whether it ' s coming up with creative strategies or determining different avenues that clients hadn ' t thought about taking to resolve a dispute ."
