Our School of Foundation and English Language Studies has
developed foundation and English language programmes to provide
you with an engaging and supportive educational experience which
prepares you for higher education with BPP University.
In-Sessional Study Skills Support
We offer a wide range of pre-degree foundation
programmes designed to prepare you both
academically and in your English capability in order
to meet the challenges of your future degree in law,
healthcare or business-related subjects.
Your tutors, who have a wealth of practice-based
and teaching experience, are here to help you to
achieve your full potential. They enjoy teaching
and are passionate about seeing you develop
and succeed. We are committed to providing high
quality education so you get the most out of your
time with us.
Our tutors and support team will work with you to
ensure you have the core introductory knowledge
and study skills you need for your degree, and to
eventually succeed in your chosen career.
Our School of Foundation and English Language
Studies is based in vibrant Shepherd’s Bush with its
excellent transport and rail links (and shopping!).
Learning and teaching approach
Our programmes are delivered primarily in smallgroup workshops, giving you lots of opportunities to
build your knowledge, understanding and confidence
with the support of your tutors and fellow students.
International Foundation Certificate (IFC)
Pre-Sessional English
• Two terms
• This is a non-credit bearing course
• One term is 12 weeks
• One term
• 120 credits in total
• One term is 12 weeks
Extended IFC
Academic English Courses
• Three terms
• These are non-credit bearing courses
• One term is 12 weeks
• One to five terms
• 120 credits in total
• One term is 12 weeks
Pre-Masters Diploma
General English Courses
• Two terms
• These are non-credit bearing courses
• One term is 12 weeks
• One to four terms
Throughout your time with us, we will provide you
with expert support and guidance. Our tutors and
student support team will monitor your progress,
and are here to help and sympathetically advise
you on all matters relating to both your studies
and outside of BPP.

• One term is 10 weeks
Support in your learning
• This is a non-credit bearing course

We also help students to develop their ability and confidence in
English language for academic, work and social purposes.
Enhanced Academic Writing Course Two
• This is a non-credit bearing course
• 120 credits in total
Class sizes
• One term is 12 weeks
Normally your class sizes for your English classes
will be of a maximum of 20 students and often many
fewer – averaging 15 students. For the ‘academic’
subjects these will normally be of a maximum of
25 students and often many fewer – averaging
20 students.
Enhanced Academic Writing Course One
• This is a non-credit bearing course
• One term
• One term is 10 weeks
Timetable
Your lessons will usually be held between either
09:00 and 13:00 or 14:00 and 18:00 each day,
over five days.
