Music Festival Time!

Music at St John’ s are holding their Annual Music Festival on Friday 9 and Saturday 10 May with a very varied programme including a signature concert by Bowfiddle Strings on the Saturday evening.
The festival opens with the first Friday lunchtime concert of the Summer 2025 series, at 12.30 pm, given by Emilija Karaliute on the kanklės( the national instrument of Lithuania.)
On Saturday 10 May at 1.30 pm, Dacorum Music School’ s Rock up Group, present Rock Up and Rock Out, an afternoon of rock‘ n roll music. of major symphony and chamber orchestras in the UK including the BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and at the Royal Opera House amongst many other ensembles.
This promises to be a very varied evening of musical entertainment with something for everyone. Now all you have to do is to note it in your diary and remember to come along and enjoy the evening on Saturday 10 May.
For lovers of more traditional music, the showpiece, the icing on the cake, will be the Saturday evening concert at 7.30 pm. We are very proud to offer a performance by Bowfiddle Strings( see poster). Bowfiddle is an ensemble run by cellist Laura Rose, consisting of 8 professional string players led by Krista Caspersz, plus oboe and harpsichord for this occasion.
The concert will include‘ Palladio’ by Karl Jenkins,’ Summer ' by Vivaldi, Albinoni’ s Oboe Concerto in D minor( played by Sarratt resident and well-known soloist Juliet Lewis), not forgetting a special arrangement of Moon River by the church’ s own Director of Music, Keith Beniston, plus some Hans Zimmer, Henry Mancini, Queen songs and Astor Piazzola amongst others, just for good measure.
