At around 9:00 on May Bank Holiday Monday, my wife Sue was walking towards the town centre along St. John’ s Road in Boxmoor, when she tripped and fell. Having hit her head when falling, she lost consciousness for a short time. Luckily, some kind people saw what had happened, stopped to help and called an ambulance. One person, using the“ emergency” button on my wife’ s mobile‘ phone was able to contact me.
An ambulance arrived very soon afterwards, and following an initial assessment, Sue was taken to Watford Hospital where she was well looked after. As she had hit her head, she was kept in hospital for“ observation” for a few days, but is now home again bruised and sore, but“ on the mend”.
One of the helpers gave me her mobile‘ phone number and asked me to let her know how my wife got on in hospital. Sadly, when I looked for that number I could no longer find it, but I hope that she, and all of the others who stopped to help, will read this and understand how grateful we both are for their kindness.
In the newspapers we read of so much cruelty committed by humans against each other that it has been heartening to know that there are still many kind people left in this world.
