Boxmoor Direct January 2022 - Page 13

Wishing everyone in Boxmoor a happy and healthy 2022 !

We and the many residents that volunteer in support of our activities have continued to work hard for Boxmoor in spite of restrictions imposed by Covid . Here ’ s a taste of what ‘ Team Boxmoor ’ achieved in 2021 and what you can look forward to in 2022 :
R
23 volunteers have helped us undertake over 100 hours of traffic surveys . We now know that 89 % of eastbound rush-hour traffic on St Johns Road is through traffic and that southbound rush-hour traffic on Lockers Park Lane increases 6.5 times on a school day !
R
Such data support arguments for improvements by Herts County Council ( HCC ). For example , we have found the funds for a Fishery Road pedestrian crossing and HCC are now doing a feasibility study .
R
We have successfully lobbied HCC on drains , broken lights on St Johns crossing and dangerous paving on Anchor Lane . 14 residents supported our autumn work parties sorting out problems , such as the dead wood in the hedgerows on Bury Hill ( see photo ).
R
We continue to fight against over-development , by resisting plans for Station Gateway to exceed four stories and arguing against over-sized developments at Gadebury Heights , Cowper Road , Glenview Road and a block of flats with no parking on Park Road .
R
In Council meetings we continue to push for a new green-field hospital , protection of the green belt , 20mph zones , electric vehicle charging and a robust response to the climate emergency .
R
We have persisted in channelling resident complaints on the large development on Sunnyhill Road and instigated two planning enforcement investigations .
R
Adrian , Simy Dhiyani , William & Claire ( L2R )
Adrian has lobbied DBC on bigger bins and the first one was recently installed on St Johns Road . As the picture shows , it doesn ’ t take much to get us excited !
Especial thanks to Simy Dhiyani and the many volunteers who make things happen ! Expect more of the same in 2022
Best wishes from your Councillors Claire , Adrian & William
