Two words that perfectly describe my energy levels . One minute , I am powering through my to-do lists , fueled by ambition and caffeine , the next I am contemplating a little siesta . These two words also described our electricity supply last week .
For two hours , our lights engaged in a disco inferno . Appliances beeped like Morse code messages from parallel dimensions . And there I was , on alien watch , convinced that E . T . was about to phone home via our microwave . Obviously , a quick call to National Grid put our minds at rest and I would have been able to relax if it weren ’ t for my husbands running commentary on the light situation - “ one light on ”, “ all off ”, “ 3 lights and dim ”!

We thought we ’ d emerged unscathed , until Monday morning . I fired up my trusty computer , confident that I ’ d already conquered most of my work . When I opened the magazine , the April issue stared back at me - a blank canvas of emptiness . Not a word in sight . Lesson learned : super organization can lead to super obliteration .
Having finally re-written the whole thing , I now vow to back up every pixel , every comma and every semicolon .
