Spring is arriving cautiously this year and daffodils , crocuses and longer , lighter days are doing battle with the rain and gloom we have been living with for months . So it ’ s time to brave the weather and get down to the Playhouse , at 72 , St John ’ s Road , where you can enjoy an evening of laughter and entertainment with a drink or an ice cream to keep you company – and without having to take out a second mortgage to do so !

“ The play has got all the best things of the hugely successful British television series , which ran for seven seasons ,” says director Iain Fowles . “ It ’ s of its time but it ’ s hysterical . It ’ s suitable for 7 to 70 yearolds .”
Most of us are familiar with the plotline which revolves around French café owner , Rene , ( played in this production by Lloyd Bronson ) who is trying to do business during World War 2 , despite complications from local German officers , the French resistance , two British airmen on the run , and the existence of a priceless painting of The Madonna With the Big Boobies , which most people ( including Rene ) want to own .
After ‘ ALLO ‘ ALLO comes the musical , LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS , scheduled for June 18 – 22 . This is also in full rehearsal and I shall have more to say about it next month . Our SUMMER SCHOOL is from August 12 – 17 , ending with a presentation of THE WIZARD OF OZ on August 17 and then it ’ s time for Shakespeare . MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING , set at the end of World War One , will be on stage from September 18 – 21 .
And then , guess what ? It will be time for panto again !
