fighting for the British title.

What about this year, where do you see yourself by the end of 2013?

By the end of 2013 I would like to be something like 10-0 and looking to fight for a title. Maybe the Southern Area title by early next year.

Your last fight was against Jason Ball, who’s a tough guy and has plenty of experience fighting young prospects and taking them the distance. You won the decision over six rounds, but was that your toughest test so far?

Most definitely. My first three fights were over so quickly it was almost like they were over before they were fights, so fighting Ball was actually like having my first professional fight! I had the nerves and everything like it was my debut again though I was still confident that I could get the stoppage, and I

like having my first professional fight! I had the nerves and everything like it was my debut again though I was still confident that I could get the stoppage, and I was hitting him with good shots but he managed to stick in there and come back at me. It was a good test though and a great learning fight. It was good to be fighting a live opponent in there who had also come to win.

You’re out again at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on March 15th, have you got an opponent confirmed for that date yet? If so, what’s your prediction for the fight?

An opponent hasn’t been confirmed yet, but I’ll be looking for the stoppage again. I always like to come forward and get out there fast, that’s how I fight.

Who is your best friend in boxing?

That would have to be my trainer, CJ Hussein.

Alan, it’s well known that fighters like to train to music for motivation, so is there a particular song that gets you really pumped and makes you train that bit harder? A guilty pleasure maybe . . .

I think it has to be something from Rocky! Eye of the Tiger! What else?!

How far do you think you can go in the sport?

I think I can go to the top, why not? But right now I’m aiming to win a British title, I can’t look too far ahead. Anything after that is a bonus.

Finally, if you could be anything else other than a professional boxer, what would you be?

I would only be a professional boxer, that’s it. I’m actually a qualified electrician but I always wanted to be a fighter. There’s just no other buzz like boxing. If I couldn’t have been a boxer, I would just want to be successful in life.
