Come fight night it is always worth checking the individual bookmakers to see what specials they have on, which could be unique to that bookie and not necessarily appear on comparison sites such as oddschecker.com.

There are plenty of unique markets that can be snapped up at the right time, a good example of this is the ‘fighter to be knocked down and go on to win the fight’ market. This scenario happens more often than many people realise, Lamont Peterson rose from the canvas and went on to claim a controversial decision over Amir Khan (at odds of 40/1), Light Heavyweight Tony Bellew was floored twice in his first bout against hard hitting Ovil Mckenzie only to go on and win by stoppage, Joe Calzaghe was decked by Bernard Hopkins in the 1st round but won a split decision, Sergio Martinez was put on his pants by Chavez Jr but won a huge majority decision, more recently Paulie Malignaggi was floored by Cano but survived to win on points… the list goes on and if you can find this market on an explosive fight it is well worth a small punt.

If you can’t pick a winner but fancy the fight to end at a certain time, then the ‘When will the fight end’ market could be worth a look at, it works exactly the same way as the group round betting however you just choose the rounds, not the fighter.

Following this trend there is also the opportunity of over/under betting, which works much in the same way as the football goals market, for example odds will be offered on over/under 6.5 rounds and so on.

If you are feeling ambitious or know a budding Mike Tyson then some bookies also offer a market for a fighter to win in the opening 60 seconds of a fight, as Ladbrokes call it – the Gone in 60 seconds market. We could have done with a ‘Gone in 82 seconds’ market for David Price vs. Audley Harrison, but never mind.

If you fancy a roulette style gamble then you can also bet on whether the fight will end in an odd or even numbered round however there is no advice we can provide for this – just hope lady luck is on your side!
