Lionhearts bounce back with victory over German Eagles!

The British Lionhearts bounced back from their 5-0 defeat to Kazakhstan when they took on the German Eagles at Earls Court on the 14th December. With one of the team’s strongest line-ups to date, the British fans in attendance were almost guaranteed a successful night of boxing from the home team. The 4-1 victory has pushed the Lionhearts back up to second place in their group, just behind Kazakhstan.

It was a shaky start when lightweight Sam Maxwell lost an extremely close split decision to David Oliver Joyce, an Irishman who is representing the Germans in this tournament. Maxwell was clearly the superior boxer but was unsettled by Joyce’s intense pressure and swinging shots as the fight progressed. This gave the visitors an early lead.
