We are always looking for ways to keep our closets up to date but our bank accounts don’t agree with our tastes these days. How do you keep your fashionable sense at reasonable price? These next few tips should help.
First thing first, check in on your roommate’s closet. If you’re hoisted up in a studio apartment with no roommate or still living at your parents then check with your best girl friends. The great part of being a gal is that we have our friends to share clothes with and it’s budget friendly.
Hit the high-end consignment shops. Take a day and go into the closest city, a lot of consignment shops there take back the expensive items that you can’t afford at retail price and you can find yourself some discounted designer. These items should be used as your splurge items for the season, spend money on items that can be used from season to season. Handbags, booties, and denim will always be staple year round.
Another tip to shopping on a budget is to buy versatile garments. Anything black and sheer can be worn from day to night and from casual to dressy. A mistake that a lot of people make when updating their wardrobe is that they spend an over abundance of money on bottoms. There’s no need to have more than 3 pairs of denim to not only get your through these upcoming seasons but for the next few years. A good dark wash, light wash, and black denim is crucial to a good closet on a budget.
Once you’ve got a good amount of new pieces go back and look at what you can still style from years before. I find myself answering to compliments these days with, “thanks I bought it like 5 seasons ago.” Someone with true style knows how to get the most out of each investment in their closet.
