Injune’s Bridal Blast
“Wedding dresses through the decades” was the theme for the Cultural Historical Injune Preservation Society’s (CHIPS) 2019 Bridal
Blast held in Injune on September 28. The well-attended afternoon and evening was held to raise funds for the Injune Centenary in
2022. Models exhibited over 60 wedding, bridesmaid and flower-girl dresses opening with Sandy Allen who was married only two
weeks previously. Models including Aneeta Hefemeister, Melissa Humphries, Jane Vincent, Fiona Vincent, Debra Walsh and Trish
Sellars also wore their own wedding dresses. Charlie O’Donohue, Kayla Godfrey, Jane Vincent and Abbie Postle wore their mother’s
gowns while Kayla and Tamsin O’Donohue were privileged to display gowns worn by their grandmothers. The oldest gown was a 121-
year-old afternoon-tea dress worn originally by Pauline MacDonnell’s great grand-mother. Pauline’s mother, Helen Peart, wore the
dress at her wedding, as did Pauline.
The next CHIPS fundraiser will be an antiques roadshow and valuation service to be held at the Injune Hall on November 24. Bring
along up to three pieces of your collectables (no jewellery) for valuation by Ross Thornton from Dalby Country Antiques.
