Construction begins on Surat’s SES Accomodation Unit &
Boat Shed
Maranoa Regional Council is committed to preparing communities for disaster and has
started construction works for the local Surat SES at 56 William Street, Surat.
You never know when disaster will strike, so Surat is preparing for any eventuality with
construction starting on the local SES facility at 56 William Street, Surat.
There are two projects scheduled for construction at the vacant block behind the Surat Hall,
which include:
•
Project 1 – Installation of an accommodation unit to be used in the event of an
emergency for State Emergency Service (SES) personnel.
•
Project 2 – Construction of a Flood Boat Shed which will allow the SES quick access to
get the flood boat out should there be an emergency.
Project 1 kicked off this week and Project 2 will begin in the coming weeks with both
projects to be completed by the end of June 2020.
Both projects have been funded by State Emergency Service (State Government) and
Maranoa Regional Council.
