Get creative this February
The Maranoa is overflowing with talented and creative people. From patchwork to pottery, and acrylics to
appliqué, our region plays host to many creative individuals and groups, dedicated to sharing their passions.
The region is also fortunate to have brilliant local galleries run by Council and committed volunteer groups.
These galleries provide excellent opportunities for local artists to exhibit and enable us to see the work of
renowned creatives from across Australia.
In February, the Maranoa will play host to a bounty of brilliant exhibitions , as well as some great, hands-on
workshops. To kick off the month, I Love a Sunburnt Country, an exhibition of works by artist Lyn Barnes will
open at Roma on Bungil Gallery on Friday February 14, 2020 at 5:30pm. As the title suggests, Lyn’s exhibition
is inspired by Dorothea Mackellar’s famous poem, as well as, her home town of Quilpie (flyer page 3).
During the month of February, Injune Creek Gallery welcomes Cathy Carson’s exhibition Inspirations to its
walls. Cathy is based on a property outside Dirranbandi and loves painting the people, animals and the
countryside around her (more on page 6). Injune Arts will also hold their AGM on February 12 at the Gallery,
nibbles provided and, all welcome.
