Injune Arts The Big Lift
The big news in Injune Arts this month is the
annual two-day Creative Odyssey
sponsored by Maranoa Regional Council
and Senex Energy. To be held on August 16
and 17 Creative Odyssey is an arts and
crafts extravaganza offering workshops in a
variety of disciplines including wire art,
machine sewing, paper craft, basket
weaving and traditional painting and
drawing. To get your copy of the full
program or to register for workshops please
contact Sue Pukallus on 4623 3838 before
Friday August 9. Twenty eight students from the Queensland
University of Technology spent two nights in
Injune in July as part of The Big Lift’s
community volunteering program.
While in town the students donated many
hours of labour – gardening, cleaning and
performing maintenance jobs at the
retirement home, the school, the police and
ambulance stations, the railway and the
church. They also enjoyed meeting
members of the community and kids on
school holidays, hosting a movie night and
an afternoon of bowls with a free barbecue.
Injune appreciates all the help the students
give us and look forward to their visit each
year.
The next exhibition at the Injune Creek
Gallery will be The Empty Chair by Sharon
Roberts, opening at 6pm on August 2.
