Guide

What is Botox?

Procedure

Botox is derived from Clostridium botulinum, which is
a bacterium. However, it is harmless - merely a
purified protein which can release a neurotoxin that, in
small doses, can do wonders for your skin. Originally
used in 1980 to treat eye disorders, it paralyses the
underlying muscles in your face that would usually be
moving around the most and therefore causing the
skin to wrinkle and create crow s feet and frown lines.
This procedure means that the skin remains still,
keeping your skin smoother.
The procedure of being administered with Botox is
simple: TheBotulinum toxin powder is diluted in saline
and injected into multiple areas of the face (with only
mild discomfort) into the neuromuscular tissue under
the skin. This only takes a few minutes, and after that
your skin will have the wrinkle-removing effects of
Botox for four to six months.
Costs
–
Currency costs are a factor of course, but with up to 6
months of wrinkle-less costing as low as £140 in the
UK, the price can be worth it. Plus, treatments are so
popular that prices can vary and drop regularly, so you
can bag a lucky deal if you search further.
