Scholarships Sean Walters BS LA S cholars h i p Pro g ra m Without an endowment, it is difficult to maintain a scholarship program. BSLA struggled financially for some years and it was not possible to be supportive of the students in our area. This all changed at the end of 2009 when over $20,000 was received from a combination of The Olmsted Fund, Hubbard-Whitney-Collard Loan Fund, and Landscape Architecture Fund. BSLA created a program and awarded the first two $1500 scholarships in 2010. The next year, three scholarships were given and this continued until this year when up to four students will be selected. 2012 Scholarship Recipient Boston Architectural College The application and subsequent award for the 2012 BSLA scholarship were helpful in a number of ways. The guidelines set forth by the scholarship committee set the stage for an intense moment of personal reflection involving both academic and professional practice; through the application process, I was able to refine my design philosophy which, simply stated, is that landscape architecture should facilitate
