As my predecessor, Tom Doolittle, mentioned in the inaugural issue, this publication is an essential tool in continuing the BSLA’s and ASLA’s promotional efforts on behalf of membership. It is also essential to your continuing education in landscape architecture. Beyond, consider these recent activities and know that our organization’s leadership continually strives to educate the public, advancing this profession for each one of us, one opportunity at a time. at t he H ot el M a rl o we Thursday, May 1, 2014 - 6:30 to 10:00 pm There is a lot to celebrate about this year – • Successful support of the ASLA 2013 Annual Meeting • Twenty-four winners of the BSLA Awards Program • Five ASLA national award winning professionals • Four 2014 scholarship winners • Local landscape architecture education and the Spring Fieldbook • Ourselves and our profession! • The BSLA is now the 3rd largest chapter of the ASLA behind Texas and Southern California. • BSLA Emerging Professionals Group has grown to 199 active members, and hosts multiple events throughout the year to educate the new members of the profession. • Over 150 BSLA members volunteered for the ASLA 2013 conference, committing over 400 shifts. • There are now 3 sanctioned student chapters for BAC, UMass Amherst, and Harvard GSD, with Northeastern pending. • Job postings for the year to date continue to trend much higher than the previous four years on the BSLA online job opportunity page, reaching an all time high of 11 available positions at one point.
