ARTISAN PROFILE
Artisan Profile
BY: DOUG PERILLI
WE ARE very proud of our diverse
workforce at Boston Centerless.
Employees hail from 12 countries
represented by the flags displayed
on our shop floor. We also celebrate
long tenure. At our holiday party
this past January, we recognized
many team members including
several that have served Boston
Centerless for over 30 years. The
team member profiled below has
been with us for more than 40 years.
It is these employees whom we call
true artisans of their craft. Their
deep knowledge and expertise
is second to none, and they are
always willing to serve as role
models to the younger generation.
PASQUALE FOLGORE
Age: 66
Current Position:
Manufacturing Technical Lead
Years at Company: 42
As a young baker hailing from the
southern region of Italy, Pasquale
Folgore (pictured above) immigrated
to the United States in 1976. After
landing in the Boston area, he
immediately took a job at Palmer
Manufacturing, a local machine
shop in Malden, Massachusetts.
While at Palmer, Pasquale learned
his way around machinery and
shortly thereafter began his career
at Boston Centerless in 1977.
Throughout his career at Boston
Centerless, Pasquale has held multiple
positions. He started by pushing parts
into a grinding machine and then
moved into the through-feed grinding
department. Pasquale spent the next
30 plus years working between the in-
feed grinding and cylindrical grinding
departments, improving and honing
his craft. His years of experience and
attention to detail helped him develop
into a true master—holding tolerances
as tight as 40 millionths of an inch!
Always a “go-to guy” for the
company’s most difficult jobs,
Pasquale has been called upon to
share his knowledge and tricks of
the trade with as many others as
possible, becoming a Manufacturing
Technical Lead (MTL) in 2012.
“Pasquale is a guy who is always
14
trying to figure things out,” said his
manager, Jason Cialone. “His calm
demeanor coupled with his amazing
technical abilities makes him a huge
asset on the shop floor. And in the
kitchen, boy can he cook!”
When asked what Pasquale likes
most about Boston Centerless, he
said “the family, the people, and
the work I get to do.” His fondest
memories were of the early days at
Boston Centerless. “There were a
lot of us Italian guys out on the shop
floor. They were a great group of
coworkers and friends.” And that is
what makes Pasquale Folgore a true
artisan at Boston Centerless.
