Leyanis Diaz

Leyanis Diaz is not your average beauty queen. I knew that the first time I saw her caramel skin, full lips, and lush afro. We met while working on a community project. I was impressed by her pageant poise, her vibrant smile, and personality. I wanted to know more about her and introduce her to the BOSSY! family.
Diaz was born in Havana, Cuba and immigrated to South Florida with her parents when she was 3 years old. She attended Miami Senior High, went on to attend FIU and graduated in 2015.
Diaz says she fell in love with storytelling in high school while working on the school newspaper.
There were early signs of her future career goals, Diaz says, as a small child she would always watch Univision and wanted to be on TV. She would always carry newspapers and magazine clippings in her purse. As she watched the Spanish novellas, she knew she wanted to do some kind of entertainment or media, but just wasn’t sure where she fit. Diaz says she fell in love with storytelling in high school, while working on the school newspaper. As a roving reporter she found that she was able to ask people really personal questions and somehow get them to open up to her.
