5. Skip the pity party- Yes we face a lot of extra challenges BUT it isn’t the end of the world so save all the I’m sorry, and sad faces. We celebrate our children and revel in their accomplishments. We’d love for you to do it too

Bonus Support Our Cause- It means a lot when friends donate or participate in fundraising efforts for Autism Awareness. But it doesn’t have to be monetary at all/ You can speak up when other people say things like “retarded,” “short bus,” You can stop bullying or teasing if you see it. You can stop being impatient with the checkout clerk who seems to be moving more slowly. You can be an advocate just by getting to know my kid and loving him.

Like I said all parenting journeys are different especially throughout the autism community but there are ways to support and love your friends through the tough times ahead. Your relationship will be better for it.
