There is no denying that today’s youth have it rough. And it takes a REAL conscious effort not to fall into many of the negative influences this would has to offer.

But every now and then you have a young lady who chooses not only to survive but to thrive. Such is the story of Carver School of the Arts’ Gates Millennium Scholarship Semi-finalist, Anna Ne’Chelle Smith. Which is why we selected her as our very first Jr. BOSS Spotlight feature.

BNA: What do you like most about Carver School of the Arts?

Anna: I love the Theatre Department because we perform several different genres of plays and I casted for main characters mainly.

BNA: What is your greatest academic achievement?

Anna: It has to be being selected as a Semi-finalist for the Gates Mill. Scholarship

BNA: What is your greatest personal achievement?

Anna: My greatest personal achievement is losing 75 pounds over the summer of June-July 2013.

BNA: What goal are you currently working towards now?

Anna I want to be a Gates Millennium Scholarship Finalist.
