Name: Michelle Sangalli

City of birth/Current City: New York

How long have you been into music, and what was your attraction? I’ve been singing since the age of 6 but I started taking it more seriously and perusing it around the age of 17. I think I was just naturally drawn to music. I remember being very young in my Grandmother’s attic listening to the Beatles album and thinking to myself, “I wanna do this.” I also grew up with a very musical family. My mother was in a band when she was in high school and my dad always read poetry to me. I think that’s the perfect recipe to becoming a songwriter.

What other talents do you have? My other talents include, playing guitar, dancing, acting, modeling, and photography. I also love to draw and play sports.

Tell us about some recent events/projects: Just yesterday I filmed a brand new music video to my newest EDM song called “Think Of You.” I had a blast and we filmed it in Coney Island! I also just recently performed for a bunch of events in Hudson Valley, NY. I’ve been having a blast performing my “Dark Moon” album. People really seem to love that one. Lastly, I’m in the works of finished up another album that I’m hoping to release ASAP. Fingers crossed!

What do you like most about music and creating it? I love that I get to be myself and write songs from my perspective. Music is medicine for people. It can be so healing and therapeutic. That’s what I love most about music and the fact that maybe I can help someone get through a breakup or a tough day is so amazing to me. I want people to turn to my music when they wanna feel something.

What is your short term music goal? I would say to release my new album ASAP. I’m also hoping to go on tour and get a chance to meet more of my fans.

What is your long term music goal? That’s a tough one, but I would say to official have music be my career and for my music to reach as many people as it possibly can. I’ve come so far but I’m certainly not even close to being done. I want to do music forever and be able to financially live with my passion being my career.

Who is your favorite artist/producers past or present? I have a bunch! I love the oldies, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, The Beatles.. etc. Then comes my generation, Britney Spears, Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift.. etc. The list can go on forever. I have a very versatile sound. Pretty much all the great ones who have made a name for themselves are usually my favorites who inspire me.

What type of adversity have you had to overcome in your endeavors? Although I appreciate all my mistakes because they taught me much needed lessons, I had more than I could count. I’ve had my share of scams, red flags, doubters, and a lot of wasted money. And if that isn’t bad enough, I’m my worst critic and fill my own head with doubt too. There’s good and bad days, it just matters if you can bounce back.
