07 Bosch Projects and Tate & Lyle Process Technology set to design new sugar factory in Oman Bosch Projects and Tate & Lyle Process Technology (TLPT) have been working for well over a year on marketing an opportunity in Oman for the design and implementation of a new sugar refinery for the Oman Sugar Refining Company (OSRC). The refinery will be constructed in the industrial port of Sohar, and produce 3,000 tons per day of EEC 2 specification refined white sugar from imported VHP raw sugar. This refinery was set to become a reality when, after five consecutive days of meetings and tough negotiations in the Bosch Projects Durban office, the design contract between the OSRC and TLPT was signed. In this project phase TLPT has sub-contracted Bosch Projects to undertake the design of the “balance of plant” which covers the entire plant with the exception of the refinery process, as this will be undertaken by TLPT. As soon as the project finance is fully in place and the project can be launched, Bosch Projects will take the lead role in the proposal and negotiation for the implementation phase. TLPT will then function as Bosch Projects’ specialist sub-contractor for the refining process implementation.
