Bosch Holdings Enginuity November 2011 | Page 2

page ENGINUITY 2 Words From The Chairman Since our last edition of Enginuity much has happened within the group and I would like to share some of these milestones with you and which I believe will enhance our ability to improve our collective and individual specific offerings. Our “BOSCH” rebrand had successful national launches in May and continues to be rolled out. Feedback has been positive and most of our stakeholders now have a clearer vision of us as an integrated, multi-company group working synergistically and seamlessly together. Equally we have seen that our employees feel more a part of a group that is internally as well as externally committed to a collective approach to people management and service delivery. We combined our 50th anniversary celebrations with our brand relaunch and our ”Walk Through The Ages” DVD illustrated well our achievements and growth over the years. It was pleasing to see our longstanding and new Clients celebrating with us, together with past Executives and current staff. There have been only 3 Chief Executives since our founding – Bill Bosch, Robin Boustred and myself – and it was good to reminisce over the changes that have transpired over the years. As a group we are ambitious to grow, not only in capacity, but also from a quality perspective, through diversification both in location and in products and services. Our Vision remains being World Class and Innovative. Our culture, supported by competent and page energetic management and staff, together with excellent systems will ensure that we achieve these goals. It is noted elsewhere that we have retained our ISO 9001-2008 accreditations and we are all proud of this continued recognition in achieving Client satisfaction. We have also been successful with our BEE Ratings having achieved – Holdings (Level 3), Stemele (Level 2), Projects (Level 4) and Munitech (Level 4) – on the Construction Charter. Besides scoring well on all 7 elements of the Balanced Scorecards, we are particularly proud of the growth of our BEE Trust, which has close to 15% shareholding in Bosch Holdings and 36no. (and growing) employee beneficiaries. Our challenge remains with the various and conflicting preferencing models being used primarily by Public Sector Clients and are hoping that standardisation will prevail with upcoming legislation. In closing, I trust that you will enjoy reading this rebranded edition of Enginuity and will find something of interest. Please contact those named for further details, or visit our new websites to get a fuller appreciation of our collective capabilities. Clive Swaisland RDS Warehouse Extended platform area with steel structure for roof Rennies Distribution Services (RDS), a member of the Bidvest Group of Companies, is a national supply chain and logistics specialist in warehousing and distribution. Bosch Stemele were appointed to assist in increasing storage and operating capaci ty in both the container and pallet based components of their Lansdowne Road facility in Durban. The project entailed work in two separate areas of the facility. The first was to extend the refined paper handling operation area by raising an adjacent disused rail siding area (± 2 000m²) to the same level as the existing platform and surfacing with concrete. The raised platform was then enclosed by extending the existing steel roofing structure and fire sprinkler system. Two dock levelling bays were also constructed to provide access to the re-modelled storage area. Ubombo Diffuser 3 Work in the other container based operation area included providing three dock levelling bays and three raised container packing stations, along with the resultant re-grading of a portion of the existing block paved container yard (± 2 100m²) to facilitate the height differential necessary for the dock levellers. The level of the foundations for the dock levelling bays and container packing stations were in a low area less than 10m above sea level, requiring dewatering during construction to ensure the new foundations were cast on dry ground. An extensive web of subsoil drains were installed to ensure adequate performance of the newly graded roadway areas. Various areas of the existing concrete roadways were also repaired, and a new weighbridge was also constructed to double the throughput of outgoing vehicles. The Lansdowne Road facility operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and this challenging project was carried out in parallel with normal operations. Careful planning in conjunction with RDS ensured that disruption to operations was minimised.
