Bulk sewage infrastructure for Mdantsane The SBA East London operation is currently completing various contracts in Phase 1 of the Mdantsane Bufferstrip Sanitation Project. A new access road will also be constructed to the inlet works to serve the de-gritter bins. Paving on all pathways will be repaired where necessary. T Repair work to the primary biofilter and digester includes maintenance to the concrete walls and cleaning out of sludge. Sludge drying beds will be cleaned, rebuilt where necessary and drainage material will also be replaced. Mdantsane, which is located 20 km north west of East London, has a population of approximately 111 000 people and once fully developed, the Bufferstrip will have a population of a further 43 000 people. The new Zone 10 pumpstation in Mdantsane will consist of one duty and a standby pump that will deliver 109Ml/s through a 228 m long, 400 mm diameter rising main.
