Bosch Projects completes
the Komati Power Station Project

and was given a clean bill of health by the inspectorate.
The R135-million expansion project at the Transvaal Sugar
Limited at Komatipoort, Mpumalanga, was completed within
budget. The process equipment was commissioned in May
2006 and the boiler plant in August 2006.

his project has been completed within budget and to the satisfaction of
the client,” says Nick Schutte, project manager of Bosch Projects.
“Efficiencies have been significantly improved as a result of this upgrade, with
an increase in the crush rate from 460 tons of cane per hour to 540 tons of
cane per hour. A further advantage is that the steam upgrade will facilitate the
future use of extra turbine generating capacity and future planned down-steam
chemical products.”
This project scope included the installation of the new 150 TSH boiler, two
vertical crystallisers, rotary smuts screens, A, B and C centrifugals and a new
let down station. A modern distributed control system has also been installed.
