Rental Reminder
Recycle
your old,
obsolete
electronics
The City of Aurora requires property
owners to register any homes in which
they do not live – whether vacant or
leased as a rental home – in order to
ensure the health and safety of residents
and neighbors.
In an effort to keep toxic e-waste out
of our landfills and environment, the
City of Aurora will offer Electronics
Recycling twice monthly in 2014. Last
year, the City of Aurora collected more
than 156 tons of obsolete and unwanted
electronics – the equivalent weight of the
Statue of Liberty. Residents can bring
their broken or obsolete electronics to
the City’s disposal sites free of charge.
Items are refurbished or recycled back
into raw materials that can be reused by
electronics manufacturers.
Accepted items include:
• Monitors and TVs
• Computers
• Computer accessories
• Videogames
• Telephones – cellular and landline
• Answering machines
• Personal digital assistants (PDAs)
• MP3 players
• Cameras and camcorders
• Servers and networking equipment
• DVD players, VCRs and stereos
• Microwaves
For more information on recycling
appliances and hazardous waste not listed,
contact the Illinois EPA at 217-524-6713.
Remember that, according to Illinois
law, it is illegal to dispose of e-waste in
the garbage.
