Facts that tell our 2011/12 Story
As the four output classes the Bay of Plenty District Health Board (DHB) we are required to report against have
been changed comparisons between previous years cannot be made. The output classes for the 2011/12
financial year are:
Prevention
Early Detection and Management
Intensive Assessment and Treatment Services
Rehabilitation and Support.
The output classes were formerly Public Health Services, Primary and Community Health Services, Hospital
Services and Support Services.
Prevention
2,512 pre-schoolers received their Before School Health (B4School) checks
1,590 children enrolled in a Tamariki Ora/Well Child service
797 people attended pregnancy and parenting courses
90% of children fully immunised at two years of age
4,649 eligible girls and young women had a HPV vaccination
41,677 eligible women had a cervical smear within the 3 year cycle
20,346 eligible women had breast screening within the 2 year cycle
6,976 eligible people had diabetes screening
49,753 eligible adults had a cardio-vascular risk assessment recorded in the last 5 years
Early Detection and Management
6,838 pre-school children enrolled with DHB funded oral health services
27,648 primary school children enrolled with DHB funded oral health services
9,071 adolescents provided with oral health services
5,842 needs assessments undertaken for older people
614 hours support provided to older people with dementia by Alzheimer’s Society
207,920 people enrolled with their Public Health Organisation (PHO)
72,060 high needs population enrolled with a PHO
5,889 patients enrolled in Care Plus
1,384 skin lesions removed
1,034,677 community laboratory tests
