The sixth story in the book is the Count of Monte by French author
Alexandre Dumas in 1844.the story takes place in France, Italy, Islands
in the Mediterranean and in the Levant during the historical events of
1815–1838. It begins from just before the Hundred Days Period (When
Napoleon Returned to Power after His Exile) and spans through to the
reign of Louis Philippe of France. The historical setting is a
fundamental element of the book. An adventure story primarily
concerned with themes of Hope, Justice, Vengeance, Mercy And
Forgiveness. It focuses on a man who is wrongfully imprisoned,
escapes from jail, acquires a fortune and sets about getting revenge on
those responsible for his imprisonment. However, his plans have
devastating consequences for the innocent as well as the guilty. It is
categorized under the genres Historical Novel, Adventure Fiction, And
Romance Novel. This book has three main characters; Edmond Dantès,
Fernand Mondego and Abbé Faria.
The seventh story in the book is King Solomon's Mines. It is a popular
novel by the Victorian adventure writer and fabulist Sir H. Rider
Haggard completed in 1885. It tells of a search of an unexplored region
of Africa by a group of adventurers led by Allan Quatermain for the
missing brother of one of the party. It is categorized under the genres
Lost World, Adventure Fiction and Speculative Fiction. It has seven
main characters Allan Quatermain, Sir Henry Curtis, Umbopa, Gagool,
King Twala, Captain John Good, Foulata, Infadoos, and George
Neville.
The Eighth story in the book is The Invisible Man. It is a science fiction
novel by H. G. Wells published in 1897. The Invisible Man of the title
is Griffin, a scientist who has devoted himself to research into optics
and invents a way to change a body's refractive index to that of air so
that it absorbs and reflects no light and thus becomes invisible. He
successfully carries out this procedure on himself, but fails in his
attempt to reverse the procedure. It has five main characters Tod
Clifton, Ras the Exhorter, Rinehart, Invisible Man, Brother Jack.
