Introduction
This Magazine consists of articles about famous stories, tales and books. These
articles are written by the members of Booklings/Book Club. This Magazine is
published to inculcate the habit of reading in children and youth. This habit is lost in
this new generation and we are trying to promote the habit of reading through this
magazine.
What is Booklings?
Booklings is a book club where children from ages 6 – 15 discuss various aspects of
books, authors etc. We also take a book from the club. We read it and think about the
various aspects of that book. We also do various activities, play games etc. Through
these activities, we try to promote the habit of reading.
What happens in a typical week of book club?
The week starts by asking the password of the week (). Once This Password Is a
Riddle Which Usually Teaches the Children of Book Club a New Word everyone
guessed the password and was eagerly waiting for to start the day, we heard a brilliant
story on why out city was named Bangalore (Every Week a Story Is Told by the
Teachers in Book Club). After that we all decided to make our personal Booklings
card, everyone designed their own cards by drawing a picture of their favourite
fantasy character (Every Week the Teachers Conduct a Fun Activity). The game of the
week was “Taboo" in which we had to describe a word in such a way that without
using certain words listed on the taboo card. The others should to guess the word. The
game turned out to be fun and interesting, everyone enthusiastically participated and
anyone who guessed the word correctly got a delicious chocolate (Every Week a
Game Also Is Conducted with Prizes). Then we heard the second part of the audio
book of Harry Potter (To Improve Listening Skills, Audio Books Are Played). After
that we started to discuss about the books we read, in that one of the boys asked
several question to get the discussion going, which helped the Book Club run
smoothly, where everyone interacted by answering his questions(This Discussion Is
Based On The Book That We Most Recently Read). Later on, an another boy shared an
interesting article on "Mythology"; almost everyone gained an extra bit about
mythology(Every Week One Of The Students Gets A Topic To Do Research Related
To It And Share To The Rest Of The Class In The Next Session). This was the end of
the session. The next week's topic is "Mystery". Everyone picked a book related to
mythology and went home excited to read the new book and prepare for next week.
