Augmented Reality Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that layers computer-generated enhancements atop an existing reality in order to make it more meaningful through the ability to interact with it. AR is developed into apps and used on mobile devices to blend digital components into the real world in such a way that they enhance one another, but can also be told apart easily. Here are some ways AR can be used in the classroom: • Bulletin boards and displays can have AR elements layered on them, making them a multimedia experience. • Triggers (flat images that can be recognized and tracked in 3D by the app) can be placed all over a school, layered with helpful videos or other elements, giving students a tour of the building. • Students or teachers can create AR games using triggers in a classroom, school building, or even outside. The games can be content-based or just for fun.
