Kahoot!
Kahoot! is a hugely popular game-based learning platform where
teachers display questions on a screen, then students log into the
system with their own devices (or in teams) and answer them.
Once a question appears on the screen, music plays along with a
retro-sounding tick-tock as the clock counts down (each question is
automatically set at 20 seconds, but teachers can adjust this). After all students
have answered, the results appear on the screen. Students who respond faster
get more points, and a leaderboard shows which students have the top scores.
When you’ve finished playing a kahoot, you can download results in a
spreadsheet for your whole class. In addition to making your own games, you
can also explore a library of public kahoots made by the community, ready to
be played. Website: https://kahoot.com
There is also the option to assign Kahoot as homework! Challenges to your
students. Using the App, students receive a code ( just like in class) and they can
play a “challenge” on their own and getting instant feedback, which is linked to
teacher accounts, so they can assess how they’re answering. Price: Free
The special effects, plus the bright and simple design of the platform, make
Kahoot! irresistible to students of all ages, and it works for any subject area. If y
ou’ve never tried it, make this year the one you do your first kahoot!
