What are your favorite resources for Indie Authors?
I highly recommend Joanna Penn, Hugh Howey, J. A. Konrath. Google them. Read their blogs. Watch any video interviews. They are very knowledgeable, experienced and give great advice. This is a tough business, but I find them to be positive and realistic at the same time when it comes to setting out on your indie author journey.
My( online) writer ' s group, kboards and Dirty Discourse.
What is your take on self-publishing verses traditional?
I think there are pros and cons to both. I can see many advantages in being a hybrid author, where you have a traditional contract for a certain series let ' s say, but then you self-publish on your own in addition to that. Amanda Hocking is a great example of this. It really depends on which avenue is best for you as a writer. I see value in both.
Which social media do you find most necessary? What can you live without?
I enjoy social media and connecting with people. I primarily use Facebook, Twitter and Reddit. I ' m not sure from a professional point of view that any of them are necessary. They all share the jobs of keeping me in touch with the community( articles, calls for subs, new trends, shoulders to cry on) as well as providing channels for me to announce my latest releases. I think as long as you are finding places to connect, it isn ' t all that important what specific medium you use.
