Before, long before, fashion, style and all those frivolities were
things that only belonged to the Leisure Class ; some happy fews
roaming from palace to palace followed by a line of servants
dragging their master’s ridiculously huge Vuitton cases.
Schlosshotel Im Grunewald, Berlin
Karl Lagerfeld
Even if sexy Berlin seems hard to spot
on the fashionworld's map that's where
Karl Lagerfeld decided to design one of
the most exclusive fashion hotel, the 53
rooms Schlosshotel Grunewald.
Two wars later some fashion designers such as Christian Dior
decided to mass produce the Upper Class Dream and the prêt-àporter was born. The suitcases became then more practical just in
time for the jumbo jets to fly the boy next door to places with
impossible names like Honolulu or Gstaad.
In the 70s the warholian Pierre Cardin decided to brand any
product you could name and now you can buy virtually anything
signed by a Haute Couture designer and get the thrill 15 minutes
or so to be rich and famous. But 15 minutes... well, some may
say...let's spend the night together.
