When I left the UK, I travelled through Indonesia but ran out of
money and on my last day I had to sleep at the airport. I was
trying to get some sleep when I was woken up by the sound of
little feet. When I opened my eyes I faced the biggest
cockroaches I thought I had ever seen in my life.
After Indonesia, I moved to the Netherlands where I started
working at Booking.com. There is only one other person in our
office who has worked for Booking.com longer than I.
While working in the social sector, I faced a lot of injustice which I
try to understand. When looking deeper into the reasons for
injustice, I always come across this one big issue – money – how
it is divided, who controls it, and where it comes from.

A: The people... They were extraordinary and so friendly
